Welcome Sone!

Seminarian  Likisone Tominiko  (Sone)

I am a sixth-year seminarian studying for the Archdiocese of Sydney and I hail from the suburb of Bankstown where I was growing up for most of my life. I am 29 years of age, and I am of Samoan/ New Zealand heritage.

I joined the seminary in 2017 with 13 others in my class. My family fostered my vocation as they were active members of the Catholic Samoan Community in Bankstown and through-out Western Sydney. Although I thought of the priesthood in High School, in later stages of my life, I was certain that marriage was for me and decided to bury the idea of being a Priest. But, as I grew in love with my faith, I found myself attending Mass regularly and taking up the sacraments in which I found the gentle voice of God, calling me to follow him.

I attribute my vocation not only to God, but His work through family, especially my grandmother who prayed constantly for us, her grandchildren, to serve God’s Church. Their humble example of service to God, His Church and His people, and my own relationship with Him, which was growing day by day, were factors that helped me to decide to enter and study for the Priesthood.

I have previously been placed in Menai, Miranda, Sefton and last year, 2021, I was on a 12-month Parish Placement in Holy Family in Menai. I am humbled to be placed here at St Ambrose’ Parish Concord West and I look forward to working with Fr Chaminda over the 1-month Christmas Placement.
